康碧是一所天主教大學的畢業生，她將在學校所學的都付諸實行。有一天晚上，她到聖堂去朝拜聖體，心想在這聖心節該如何做，以中悅耶穌聖心，她決定在明天盡力分發耶穌聖心牌給別人。

   黎明初現，康碧放了一些耶穌聖心牌在皮包裡，就去參加彌撒。走下樓梯，她遇見一個送牛奶的人，他不是天主教徒。那是需要勇氣去送給他一枚耶穌聖心牌的。她鼓足勇氣，從皮包裡取出一枚聖心牌送給他說：

「喔！這是個小小的禮物，拿著吧！它會在危害中拯救你。」送牛奶的人接受了耶穌聖心牌，康碧去參加彌撒，滿心喜悅地得到對耶穌聖心許諾的第一個機會。

康太太和康碧坐在起居室裡，女僕來到門口，告訴康碧：

「有一個送牛奶的人在樓下，想跟妳說話。」

康太太說：「她要什麼？我跟妳出去。」

   送牛奶的人告訴康碧：「今天早晨，我非常的生氣，計畫犯一個可怕的罪惡。當妳將耶穌聖心牌放在我的手上時，我感到有一個改變，我望著拯救我的聖心，明白了我企圖做的事情，將與耶穌永遠分離。

我想我應該告訴妳這件事。我永遠不離開這聖心聖牌，因為我確信它會保護我，使我再也不會發怒。」

11.Pleasing Sacred Heart of Jesus

     Bertha Carleton was a graduate of a Catholic academy and she faithfully practiced the lessons learned there.

        One evening, while visiting the Blessed Sacrament, she wondered what she could do to please the Sacred Heart, as it was His month.   She decided that on the next day she would give away as many badges of the Sacred Heart as she could.

        Morning dawned and, before starting for Mass, Bertha placed some badges in her purse.   Going downstairs she met the milkman, who was not a Catholic.   It required courage to approach the man with a badge, but conquering human respect, she took one from the purse and said,  “Oh, here is a little gift for you!   Keep it and it will save you from harm.”   The man accepted the badge and Bertha went to Mass, glad of his first opportunity of keeping her promise to the Sacred Heart.

        Later in the day, Mrs. Carleton and Bertha were sitting in the living room when the maid came to the door and told Bertha that the milkman was downstairs and wished to speak to her, Mrs. Carleton asked,   “What can he want with you? I shall accompany you.”

        The man addressed Bertha and said,  “This morning I was dreadfully angry and had planned to commit a terrible crime.   When you put that badge into my hands I felt a change come over me, and as I looked at the Heart of my Savior I realized that what I had intended to do would separate me from Him forever.   I thought I ought to tell you what you have done for me. I shall never part with this badge which will, I am sure, prevent me from ever being angry again.”
