第二次世界大戰中，有許多勝利的事蹟沒有記載在歷史上，但卻寫在耶穌聖心上，永遠不能忘懷。

　　艾神父在查看天主教教友名冊並在談過話的名字上打個鉤，他看到一個不認識的名字，就決定馬上去找他，這位隨軍司鐸很快就找到這個軍人。

神父擔心他們在很危險的情況下是否有領聖事？否則真的是冒一個很大的險。神父請他把耶穌聖心的聖牌帶在身上，不要拿開。

    他回答說：「我已四十年不領聖事，好吧！為了你我會帶著。」

　　一星期後，這位隨軍司鐸想法子說服他去領聖事。神父邀請他到房間裡，問他是否已改變主意？

    「我絕不去告解！」這是回答。

   請你告訴我，什麼理由讓你對宗教這麼不熱衷？於是這個軍人就講出他一生的故事，加上一點技巧的問話，就完成了他的描述。神父說你已經告明了，我給你赦罪，請你痛悔你所做的一切。這位軍人很高興的知道這就是辦告解，但是他拒絕去領聖體。

　　艾神父為這位罪人懇切的祈求耶穌聖心。第二天早晨，神父看見他跪在前排，心裡充滿了喜樂，並在領聖體的時刻看見他很恭敬的去領受耶穌基督。祂----慈愛的等候他那麼多年。

20.Never Forget

     During the last World War, there were many victories gained that were not recorded in history, but that are written indelibly on the Heart of Christ.

        Father L. was looking over the list of Catholic names and, as he checked those he knew and had already spoken with, he came upon one that was unfamiliar, so he decided to go immediately in quest of the man.

        In a short time the chaplain found him.   After a few minutes spent in ordinary conversation, the priest asked the soldier if he had received the sacraments, as they were in a position of great danger and it would never do to take a risk.  “I have not been to the sacraments nor have I been inside a church for forty years and I am not going to begin now,”  replied the man.

        Father L. handed him a badge of the Sacred Heart, saying,  “Will you wear this badge and promise me that you will not remove it?”  “Yes, I shall do that much for you,”  was the answer.

        A week elapsed before the chaplain  once more tried to convince the man that he should approach the sacraments.  He invited him to his room and asked  if he had changed his mind.   “I shall never go to confessions, “ was the answer.   “Will you tell me what caused you to become so careless about your religion?”   The man then told the story of his life and, with the aid of a few skillful questions from the chaplain, his account was complete.   “Now,”  said the Father, “you have made your confession and there remains but to receive absolution and be sorry for what you have done.”

        The penitent was delighted to think he had actually made his confession, but he refused to receive Holy Communion.

        “I am to say Mass at seven o’clock tomorrow.   Will you come?”   “Yes, I shall assist at Mass, but I shall not go to Communion.”

        The pries pleaded with the Sacred Heart for this erring soul and was rewarded the next morning by seeing him in the front row.   The chaplain’s heart bounded with joy when, at Communion time, he saw the man reverently approach to receive the God who had mercifully waited for him so many years.
